We all know that doors can be beautiful by themselves, especially Long Doors, but why not spruce them up with some new, Autumn decor to welcome your Thanksgiving guests?
Instead of the typical autumn wreath, try hot gluing autumn leaves, acorns, maize, and branches to an empty, wooden picture frame. You can glue all around the picture frame, or keep some of the frame showing for a more rustic look. Either attach this frame to a regular wreath hanger, which you can hide by gluing leaves, branches, and more, or use an orange or mauve ribbon to hang the frame on your front door.
Welcome your guests inside with pumpkin pie potpourri
Fill your kitchen or any other room with the welcoming smell of pumpkin pie.
Below is a great new way to fill your home with the welcoming smell of pumpkin pie.
Cut the top and clean out the inside of a few small to medium-sized pumpkins. Use an apple corer to make holes all around each pumpkin for venting. Rub seasonal spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla, and cloves throughout the inside of the pumpkin. Place a small, votive candle inside the pumpkin. When you light the candle, the smell of pumpkin pie will fill every room — before you even bake the actual pie!
We hope these small tips add some festivity to your home for the upcoming holiday. Again, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

THE BIGGEST REASON WHY SOLAR MAKES SENSE: 30% FEDERAL TAX CREDIT FOR SOLAR (LIMITED TIME – THE GOVERNMENT WILL GIVE YOU BACK 30% ON YOUR PROJECT)
The Details:
The panels are plug and play: Add up to 15 total panels without changing anything at all
How do we attach them? The panel system slides under your shingles and are secured
How does it work? The sun hits the panels and creates electrons that then generate electricity. It’s like magic!
What am I really saving? It depends on the house. Our product specialists will look at your energy output, the placement of your home and review all the numbers so you can make an educated buying decision.
Why solar?Tax credits are 30% and cover labor, install and materials. That’s unheard of. For example, for windows, the government covers your cost of product, but doesn’t cover labor or installation.
There are no HOA (homeowners association) restrictions AT ALL. This is huge for homeowners because very often they cannot change their door, windows, etc because of restrictions in the neighborhood. Solar is SO IMPORTANT for our country that the federal government has made it a FEDERAL LAW that no HOA can stand in the way of a homeowner who wants to have solar panels put on their home.
Long Attic Mirror (sometimes known as radiant barrier) is a thin, silver lining placed in your attic. It’s made from NASA space suit technology and it reflects heat back to where it came from. In the summer, it pushes the sun’s rays away from your home and in the winter, it keeps the heat from escaping. If you ever have rooms or floors that are very different temperatures, attic mirror will even that out.

At Long Doors, we refer to entry doors as the “jewel of the home.” We’ve found that when your entry doors need replacing, they stick out like a sore thumb. Whether your friends and family come by to drop off a batch of cookies or watch the Redskins game, their first impression of your home is your entry door.
With time, the doors on our homes often become weathered, damaged or simply out of style. In these cases, it might be time to invest in a brighter, fresher replacement door. Common signs of inefficient doors are detachment from the hinge, problematic locks, weather-stripping that peels or an outside draft coming through. How do you find the right company for your home? What about the right door? You look for a history of great service, a product you love and an excellent warranty.
Nelson Kline, Product Specialist with Long Doors, provides viewers with a comprehensive overview on what they need to know about investing in replacement doors. Kline details the benefits of replacement doors, the precautions and differences in replacement doors and what to look for in a door replacement company. The topics covered in this video series are: When to replace your doors, what to look for in replacement doors and common questions homeowners have about door replacement Read more…
