The video focuses on homeowners in Maryland and how they save energy in and outside the home. Many of those questioned mentioned turning off electronics that aren’t being used. Upgrading their insulation was another often mentioned remedy for lowering energy costs. During times like these all of us are looking for ways to save money. We start noticing the little things that pile up. CFL light bulbs save you $40 over their lifespan. Shutting off your computer when it is not being used can save you over $90 a year. Companies that shut off their computers at night can save around $10,000. On Friday we will introduce a big way to curb home energy bills. We can all save energy by eliminating some of the smaller issues. In 2 days we will reveal how we will help 52 homeowners save on their energy bills in a big way. Stay Tuned! Be More Social! March 4, 2011Miracle on 1810 Laurens Street.Beginning in June of 2010, Long Fence and Home and Under Armour worked with Sandtown Habitat for Humanity to provide a home for a needy family in Baltimore City. In December of 2010, the home was completed and dedicated to Mr. Kevin Wiggins. This is Sandtown’s 300th home and they are applying for LEED Platinum certification. If granted certification this will be the first LEED Platinum home in Baltimore. The video above shows the several stages and the people who worked to make this possible. It begins with the removal of the concrete flooring by Under Armour CEO, Kevin Plank and Under Armour Green Manager, Will Phillips. After the framing, Long Windows steps in to provide the hyper energy efficient windows and doors. Lastly, the home is completed and we receive a guided tour of the home from Will Phillips. Long Fence and Home couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this project. We take great pride in improving the communities we service and thank Sandtown Habitat for Humanity for the chance to contribute. We look forward to working with them again in the future. A list of the home’s Green Features is provided after the jump! To learn more about this project visit Sandtown Green House! Read more… |
