Aside from taking us paperless for our client surveys (which is awesome), GuildQuality also provides great insight on our long standing strong points, potential areas for improvement and the mindset of the clients we work with every day. Long Fence and Home wins the 2011 Best of Beltsville award from the US Commerce Association

Long Fence and Home is the proud recipient of the 2011 Best of Beltsville Award in the Miscellaneous Builders & Contractors category from the US Commerce Association. The home improvement company received the award because the USCA believes Long Fence and Home “achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category.”

Other factors that lead to Long Fence and Home receiving the award was that the company enhanced “the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community” while at the same time continuing to be a staple in the community.

“It is a great honor to be recognized for our service and commitment to the community,” said Director of Business Development Katie DePaola. “Being in the industry for more than 65 years, we are pleased our replacement windows, kitchen remodeling, vinyl siding and other products have brought such a high level of satisfaction to our customers.”

Replacement Windows: Before and After Long Fence and Home Came In!

Just in time for the holidays, Long Fence and Home visited Falls Church, VA to donate replacement windows, gutters and gutter jackets for four veteran families, as part of Decorate-A-Vet. Founded by Jeff Jones of Classic Stonescaping in 2010, Decorate-A-Vet was created to help local home improvement businesses give back to America’s veterans by decorating, remaking and cleaning up their homes for the holiday season. For some veterans, it’s the first time they’ve ever decorated their homes for the holidays.

Some of the updates received by the veteran families were home makeovers including our replacement windows, new gutters systems and gutter downspouts. If you couldn’t make it out to see the homes during the unveiling, here are some of the before and after pictures of the windows:

Long Fence and Home gives the gift of happy, healthy homes this holiday season

As the seasons of giving approaches, our thoughts drift to one group that defines giving: American veterans. These men and women risked their lives and fought bravely for our country, but now that they have aged, they need assistance with basic household chores such as cleaning gutters, clearing brush, trimming tree limbs or maintaining their sidewalks and landscapes. That’s why Long Fence and Home, the Washington DC area’s leading home improvement company, is teaming up with Decorate-A-Vet to provide home makeovers for veterans in Northern Virginia this holiday season.

As part of the partnership, Long Fence and Home will install new gutter systems or new replacement windows in the homes of six veterans in Falls Church who served in either the Korean War or World War II. Through these installations, the veterans’ homes will not only become more energy efficient, but they will reduce the amount of maintenance needed for cleaning and repair around the home. The newly renovated homes will be unveiled on December 3 in a short ceremony.

Additional renovations that Decorate-A-Vet has commissioned to be done by other home improvement contractors are landscaping, mulching, painting, handrail installation and tree stump removal. These generous donations will improve the appearance and functionality of the veterans’ homes.

On top of the home improvements, Long Fence and Home is also collecting items for a Holiday Gift Box that will be presented to the veterans during their home unveiling. The team at Long Fence and Home will provide gift cards to stores such as Target, Dunkin Donuts and Giant along with a variety of holiday items to help spruce up the veterans’ homes in time for holiday celebrations.

November’s energy saving tip!

October is over and we’ve already had our first snow! As the air continues to chill and the temperatures start to drop, your heating costs will begin to rise. We know that heating your home is important, but did you know that setting your thermostat at 68 degrees or lower during the winter months is the ideal temperature? For each degree you increase the temperature from the recommended setting, you can increase your energy bill up to 4%. Here’s a quick table to show you the impact of raising your temperature.
